Everybody talks about soulmates Like love can carry all the weight Like butterflies can pay the bills Or keep two people from a mistake I've seen people swear forever With stars shining in their eyes Then walk away the moment life Stopped feeling like a perfect night Feelings come and feelings go Like seasons, like the rain What matters most is who stays standing When everything begins to change Love is a feeling, loyalty is a choice Anybody can say the words Anybody can raise their voice Love is a feeling, it rises and it falls But loyalty is choosing someone When the feeling isn't there at all I've seen people deeply in love Still tempted by a different face Still chasing something new and shiny Still looking for another place Because love was never the promise That nobody would ever stray The promise was what you decided When temptation came your way The heart can be uncertain The mind can wander too Character is what decides What you're actually going to do Love is a feeling, loyalty is a choice Anybody can say forever Anybody can make some noise Love is a feeling, it rises and it falls But loyalty is choosing someone When the feeling isn't there at all It's easy when it's magic It's easy when it's new The real test of a relationship Is what happens after the honeymoon When life gets loud, when times get hard When somebody else catches your eye Do you protect what you already have Or do you say goodbye?
