I woke up with coins in my mouth Someone else's memories pressed in my hand Dreamt I was hired to vanish myself Paid in ash and elastic bands The stairs were peeling The paint was new I told the walls “I remember you” I fall, I stay I crawl my way Wore a name I forgot to defend Climbed through the floor just to find a new edge Laughed like a god with a mouth full of pins Drank from a cup that forgot my face The books were blank But they smelled like smoke I learned more falling Than I ever spoke I fall, I stay I crawl my way Stripped down to instinct No medals, no map Pulled up my collar And traded collapse They clapped as I split in two One half ran, the other grew Built a coat from loss and names Wore it backwards in the rain I fall, I stay I crawl my way No design Still, I remain Mouth of coins Hands of clay I crawl my way
