Love This Christmas

If the snow never falls If the stars don't shine I'll still get my Christmas When your hand's in mine If we're far from home and the road feels longer Wherever you stay That's where I belong Christmas wherever you are Near or far, near or far Though need the whole world shining When you light up my heart You're my December My sweetest December Christmas wherever you are That's where my Christmas starts Back home the breeze will be warm tonight Family gathering underneath the lights Mama calling everybody coming through But this year, girl, it's only me and you I know you miss your people too The little things your family used to do So come here, darling, let me hold you near We gonna make some memories of our own this year Mama called from Nigeria yesterday Said the whole house dancing Christmas Day I could hear my people laughing on the phone For a little while I wished that I was home But you came and wrapped your arms around Said, "My love, you know you got family" And somehow all the distance disappeared Child, my baby, I'm so glad you're here We can't bring the islands here Or the streets where I grew up But we can make a little heaven with the two of us Every road, every ocean, every mile between Can't take away the feeling of a Christmas meaning If the snow never falls If the stars don't shine I'll still get my Christmas When your hand's in mine If we're far from home and the road feels longer Wherever you stay That's where I belong Christmas wherever you are Near or far, near or far Near or far Don't need the whole world shining When you light up my heart You're my December My sweetest December Christmas wherever you are That's where my Christmas starts I put your favorite record on tonight And you hung those little golden lights We made a meal like back in St. Vincent With Nigerian pepper, baby, I wasn't in it Girl, you nearly burned my tongue But you still came back for another one Two different worlds, one little room And somehow Christmas feels brand new And if somebody's lonely tonight Missing the ones they love I pray they find a little light And somebody to hold them close And if your Christmas ain't the way you planned If you're reaching for a familiar hand Just know that love can find you Even when you're far from home May every heart find somewhere to belong Somewhere to belong Baby, hold me closer Come here, my love We got everything we need Christmas wherever you are Near or far, near or far Don't need the whole world shining When you light up my heart You're my December My sweetest December My sweetest December Christmas wherever you are That's where my Christmas starts Merry Christmas, my love Merry Christmas, sweetheart Even when we're far from home We're never far from love Christmas wherever you are Christmas wherever you are That's where my Christmas starts
